Matthew 28 19-20

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:19-20

The English Standard Version of this same scripture says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” I have heard Christians who say, “As for me, I will contribute money to support those going out to preach the Gospel.” Well! Mr or Mrs. Opulent, let me tell you, much as we may need your money to go out and better a life, the truth is: that soul whose life is changed and transformed shall be accounted on the man or woman who taught him not you who gave the money. Money is not the ultimate requirement for discipleship but your life is.

The Greek word used to mean “Go” in our scripture is, “poreuomai” which is translated, “I travel, I journey, I go, or I die.” This instruction of Jesus is not literally sending you to journey the whole world, village by village but rather, that your influence must travel and cover the whole world. Look! Jesus came with a strategy to disciple the whole world: therefore, He invested His entire life in and out into the life of 12 men (disciples). He poured wholly His life into these men by teaching them, walking with them, eating with them and praying with them until they were now like Him: thinking like Him, moving like, and longing after the things He longed for. Now, this is the true Great Commission – investing your life in a life. Have you ever asked yourself why Jesus only concentrated on the 12 disciples and not the 70 people or the whole earth?

Beloved saint, a disciple means a follower of Jesus Christ. And today, Jesus is commissioning you who is already His follower to go out of your way and share your life with someone: teach them to know Jesus like you know Him, make them to follow in the very footsteps that you are following. You do not need money to do this: at your workplace there is someone who does not know Christ the way you know Him, make them to become followers by spending your time with them. Ar your school, there is someone who needs to follow Jesus like you do, invest your life in them. Even in your nuclear and extended families, reach out for a follower and make them to follow after the pattern of the life of Jesus Christ. In conclusion, Oh follower of Jesus Christ, reach one and teach them completely, and that one will reach another one and teach them completely, and that other one will also reach another and teach them completely, until the whole earth is fully evangelized. After this word today, reach out for a soul today in Jesus’ name.

Be Blessed!
I Love You!
