Genesis 15:1

“After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”
Genesis 15:1

Money is a good reward, but cannot satisfy us forever, a good loving spouse is even a better reward but still, cannot satisfy us always, fame and honour is a good reward, but the satisfaction it brings only lasts a season, and children are an amazing reward to parenthood, yet the joy they bring does not completely mean the absence of emptiness in parents. So, what true reward can the world offer unto man? Only the maker of the world is the true reward in the world. When you find the maker of the world, you will find the true meaning of fulfillment – and that’s the ultimate reward.

The Word of the Lord came to Abram at a time when he was in a melancholy mood, because he had no child. Beloved, your Father understands what you are going through: He is your God, He is the maker of Heaven and Earth, He knows all things in detail. Look here! Abram had been trusting God all the while, infact, God had just given him victory against the king of Sodom, and in return, Abram had just offered unto God his tithes in appreciation for the victory (Genesis 14:20-22). However, victory over his enemies was not the reward Abram sought, he wanted the fulfillment of the promise God had made concerning Him, which said, “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:…” Genesis 12:2

Abram’s greatest need was a child through whom the promise of a great nation would be fulfilled. But God said unto him, “Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” In otherwards, God was saying to Abram, “The child is not what you need, I made the promise of the child, it is Me you need to fulfill that promise that I made.” Child of God, I know you have the promise of God upon your life, but what you direly need is not that promise fulfilled, you need the promise give more than you need the promise itself; He is your shield, and ultimately great reward. Look to Him, and Rest on His breast today, whisper in His ears saying, “It’s you I need Oh Lord!”

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
