GOD PUNISHES SIN UTTERLY
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
There is an interesting passage in the book of Ezekiel 9:4-6, it says, “And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. And to the others He said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.”
From our passage above it is clear that God punishes sin with no arbitration. He did not spare the children of Israel who sinned against His laws, for commanded He saying, “Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women:”
However, there was a remnant that He spared much as His wrath and judgement raged. The Lord God commanded saying, “But come not near any man upon whom is the mark;” Here we are, God punishes sin, but spares those whom He’s placed His mark upon.
What is this mark? Ephesians 1:13 says, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.” The mark that distinguishes the condemned from the saved is the Holy Spirit who is the seal or mark of God.
The Holy Spirit does not gives us the seal but He is the very seal. What God will look out for in the world at the time of judgment is whether or not one is sealed with the Holy Spirit. If you have the Holy Spirit in you, you are spared of judgment, if you don’t have the Holy Spirit you are condemned already.
The word seal according to the Greek Lexicon is “sphragizo” to mean, “ownership and the full security carried by the backing (full authority) of the owner.” Therefore, as believers in Christ who possess the Holy Spirit, we are owned by God because we have the Spirit God. And it is because of this Spirit that God cannot condemn believers – for He cannot condemn His own.
Beloved, have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord Saviour? If yes, you have the seal of Salvation, therefore be confident about the end, because the judgment for you is covered through the seal. If not yet, then you do not have any security about eternal life. You need to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and He will save you, and seal you with the seal of Salvation who authenicates you access to eternal life.
To receive Jesus Christ, please say this simple prayer and you will be saved, say, “Lord Jesus, I acknowledge you in my life from today henceforth, I surrender my wheel to you right now completely, and ask You to be my Saviour and Lord forever. I declare that from now onwards, I shall tell the world that I am saved, in Jesus’ name. Amen” Hallelujah!
If you have said that prayer sincerely from your heart, you are now saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. I Love You!
Father, I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit through Whom I am possessed and owned by You. Thank You Lord for acquitting me from judgement and condemnation. I give You all the Glory, Honour, and Power. In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen
